Hatha Yoga is unique among exercise programmes in that it engages both body and mind, in a series of stretching and strengthening poses combined with breathing, meditation and relaxation.
Shanti is a Sanskrit word that means peace, rest, calmness, tranquility, or bliss and it underlines the emphasis that we place on the calming and relaxing value of yoga, together with the numerous and well-known physical benefits, as being the perfect antidote for today's stressful world.
Yoga is for everyone, no matter what your age or level of ability. Konny Scotthorne is an experienced teacher who will guide you gently and competently through a programme that suits your ability, and which enables you to reach your personal goals.
About our classes

Yoga classes take place at the Hackenthorpe Community Centre, 12 Four Wells Drive, Sheffield S12 4JB
Tuesday Mornings at 10.45am to 11.45am,
Thursday evenings at 7.00pm to 8.00pm
The price is just £5.00 per session.
The class normally begins with a gentle warm-up followed by a selection of poses (asanas) designed to exercise various parts of the body. We finish with a guided relaxation lasting about 10 minutes. The whole class will take about 60 minutes in total.
Don't worry if you haven't done yoga before, all will be explained! If you have, you'll find that our classes follow a very familiar pattern. Please bring a mat if you have one, and a blanket. We do have a number of mats available so it's not a problem if you don't have one yet.
